저희가 믿음으로 나라들을 이기기도 하며 의를 행하기도 하며 약속을 받기도 하며 사자들의 입을 막기도 하며 who through faith conquered kingdoms, administered justice, and gained what was promised; who shut the mouths of lions, |

불의 세력을 멸하기도 하며 칼날을 피하기도 하며 연약한 가운데서 강하게 되기도 하며 전쟁에 용맹되어 이방 사람들의 진을 물리치기도 하며 quenched the fury of the flames, and escaped the edge of the sword; whose weakness was turned to strength; and who became powerful in battle and routed foreign armies. |

여자들은 자기의 죽은 자를 부활로 받기도 하며 또 어떤 이들은 더 좋은 부활을 얻고자 하여 악형을 받되 구차히 면하지 아니하였으며 Women received back their dead, raised to life again. Others were tortured and refused to be released, so that they might gain a better resurrection. |

또 어떤 이들은 희롱과 채찍질뿐 아니라 결박과 옥에 갇히는 시험도 받았으며 Some faced jeers and flogging, while still others were chained and put in prison. |

돌로 치는 것과 톱으로 켜는 것과 시험과 칼에 죽는 것을 당하고 양과 염소의 가죽을 입고 유리하여 궁핍과 환난과 학대를 받았으니 They were stoned; they were sawed in two; they were put to death by the sword. They went about in sheepskins and goatskins, destitute, persecuted and mistreated-- |

(이런 사람은 세상이 감당치 못하도다) 저희가 광야와 산중과 암혈과 토굴에 유리하였느니라 the world was not worthy of them. They wandered in deserts and mountains, and in caves and holes in the ground. |
39 |
이 사람들이 다 믿음으로 말미암아 증거를 받았으나 약속을 받지 못하였으니 These were all commended for their faith, yet none of them received what had been promised. |
40 |
이는 하나님이 우리를 위하여 더 좋은 것을 예비하셨은즉 우리가 아니면 저희로 온전함을 이루지 못하게 하려 하심이니라 God had planned something better for us so that only together with us would they be made perfect. |
고린도전서(1 Corinthians) 15:12~20

그리스도께서 죽은 자 가운데서 다시 살아나셨다 전파되었거늘 너희 중에서 어떤 이들은 어찌하여 죽은 자 가운데서 부활이 없다 하느냐 But if it is preached that Christ has been raised from the dead, how can some of you say that there is no resurrection of the dead? |

만일 죽은 자의 부활이 없으면 그리스도도 다시 살지 못하셨으리라 If there is no resurrection of the dead, then not even Christ has been raised. |
14 |
그리스도께서 만일 다시 살지 못하셨으면 우리의 전파하는 것도 헛것이요 또 너희 믿음도 헛것이며 And if Christ has not been raised, our preaching is useless and so is your faith. |
15 |
또 우리가 하나님의 거짓 증인으로 발견되리니 우리가 하나님이 그리스도를 다시 살리셨다고 증거하였음이라 만일 죽은 자가 다시 사는 것이 없으면 하나님이 그리스도를 다시 살리시지 아니하셨으리라 More than that, we are then found to be false witnesses about God, for we have testified about God that he raised Christ from the dead. But he did not raise him if in fact the dead are not raised. |

만일 죽은 자가 다시 사는 것이 없으면 그리스도도 다시 사신 것이 없었을 터이요 For if the dead are not raised, then Christ has not been raised either. |
17 |
그리스도께서 다시 사신 것이 없으면 너희의 믿음도 헛되고 너희가 여전히 죄 가운데 있을 것이요 And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins. |
18 |
또한 그리스도 안에서 잠자는 자도 망하였으리니 Then those also who have fallen asleep in Christ are lost. |
19 |
만일 그리스도 안에서 우리의 바라는 것이 다만 이생뿐이면 모든 사람 가운데 우리가 더욱 불쌍한 자리라 If only for this life we have hope in Christ, we are to be pitied more than all men. |
20 |
그러나 이제 그리스도께서 죽은 자 가운데서 다시 살아 잠자는 자들의 첫 열매가 되셨도다 But Christ has indeed been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep. |

여섯째 달에 천사 가브리엘이 하나님의 보내심을 받들어 갈릴리 나사렛이란 동네에 가서 And in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God unto a city of Galilee, named Nazareth, |

다윗의 자손 요셉이라 하는 사람과 정혼한 처녀에게 이르니 그 처녀의 이름은 마리아라 To a virgin espoused to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David; and the virgin's name was Mary. |

그에게 들어가 가로되 은혜를 받은 자여 평안할찌어다 주께서 너와 함께하시도다 하니 And the angel came in unto her, and said, Hail, thou that art highly favoured, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women. |
29 |
처녀가 그 말을 듣고 놀라 이런 인사가 어찌함인고 생각하매 And when she saw him, she was troubled at his saying, and cast in her mind what manner of salutation this should be. |
30 |
천사가 일러 가로되 마리아여 무서워 말라 네가 하나님께 은혜를 얻었느니라 And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favour with God. |
31 |
보라 네가 수태하여 아들을 낳으리니 그 이름을 예수라 하라 And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS. |
32 |
저가 큰 자가 되고 지극히 높으신 이의 아들이라 일컬을 것이요 주 하나님께서 그 조상 다윗의 위를 저에게 주시리니 He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David: |
33 |
영원히 야곱의 집에 왕 노릇 하실 것이며 그 나라가 무궁하리라 And he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end. |
34 |
마리아가 천사에게 말하되 나는 사내를 알지 못하니 어찌 이 일이 있으리이까 Then said Mary unto the angel, How shall this be, seeing I know not a man? |
35 |
천사가 대답하여 가로되 성령이 네게 임하시고 지극히 높으신 이의 능력이 너를 덮으시리니 이러므로 나실 바 거룩한 자는 하나님의 아들이라 일컬으리라 And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God. |
36 |
보라 네 친족 엘리사벳도 늙어서 아들을 배었느니라 본래 수태하지 못한다 하던 이가 이미 여섯 달이 되었나니 And, behold, thy cousin Elisabeth, she hath also conceived a son in her old age: and this is the sixth month with her, who was called barren. |
37 |
대저 하나님의 모든 말씀은 능치 못하심이 없느니라 For with God nothing shall be impossible. |
38 |
마리아가 가로되 주의 계집종이오니 말씀대로 내게 이루어지이다 하매 천사가 떠나가니라 And Mary said, Behold the handmaid of the Lord; be it unto me according to thy word. And the angel departed from her. |
