지난 주일 이태일 장로님의 영어로 하신 기도가 큰 은혜가 되었습니다.
영어기도가 저에게는 늘 부담스러운데 기도하면서 은혜가 많이 되어
한 번 외워보아야 하겠다는 생각이 들어서 기도문을 받아서 여기에 올립니다.
영어공부에도 도움이 되시리라 생각합니다. ^^
Heavenly Father, thank you. Thank you for giving us the gift of another day. You bless us in so many
ways each and every day. How often do we take these gifts and blessings for granted? Let us be
reminded of all the blessings you provide for us and our families and to be positive minded and
thankful for all that you have done and continue to do.
We look back to how we just spent this past week. Our lives are so busy and filled with so many
demands and responsibilities. Each day goes by so quickly that it seems like another day is done in
a blink of an eye. We focus on the worldly needs and get swept into the standards and values that
our society calls important. Father, we do this day after day. Of course, we are human beings and
naturally sinners. No matter how hard we try, we fall short. And this week was no different.
So Father, we come before you to ask for your forgiveness – for all those times when we put our selfish
needs/wants before yours, for all the times when we took control and took matters into our own
hands, and for all those times when we didn’t show the fruit of the Holy Spirit in our daily lives. We
compare, we compete, we judge, we gossip, and we are negative. We lose confidence. We become
frustrated and angry. We find ourselves saddened and even depressed at ourselves for the way we
are.
But as we lift these burdens up to you Father, I know you will simply wipe them clean. You promised
that you would always forgive and forget and that you love us unconditionally. Father, take the
burdens and the sins from our hearts and wipe them clean and set us free. Father, help us to realize
that the key in life is to stay connected with you. And as we stay attached to you, let us feel your grace
and your love that you provide so abundantly.
Father, we come before you today as a congregation, as one body in Christ. Most importantly, we are
here to praise you. We are here for your glory. We are here because we love you. Father, I pray this
worship service is pleasing to you.
We of course will be re-energized too for being a part of this celebration. And as a result, we want to
be used by you to become the salt and the light of this world. We want to be the pathway for your
blessings – so that you may bless my family through me, to bless my co-workers through me, to bless
my customers through me, and even bless my enemies through me. This is something I couldn’t do on
my own. But as you, Lord, work in me and as the people see your image in me, I know that they will be
blessed by you. Father, I pray that each and every one of us here can be used in this way, by you.
Father, I am excited for this worship. I am excited for the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts. I am excited that
we can have this celebration for you. Thank you for giving us this very special time, and I pray all this in
the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
