Judges 21:25 [NIV]
In those days Israel
had no king; everyone did as he saw fit.
It shows how the kingdom of God was established, from
Genesis to Joshua. Beginning with the choice of a man Abraham, waited 400
years, and after the people of a nation were made, made a covenant with them
and established God's sovereignty in the wilderness, the word of Joshua now
occupied the territory for them to live, and now the kingdom of God You're done
The beautiful covenant between God and the people who would live in the kingdom
is the word of Joshua 24. I would like to build God on earth now, with the
confession of the people who responded to Joshua's exhortation, "then
choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve": "But as for me
and my household, we will serve the LORD." The country God want to
establish was completed. So, they could live writing Joshua 25. They could live
as promised and expand the kingdom of God. The book of Judges, however, shows
how easily the kingdom of God, established in such a long time, collapsed by
small thing.
The daily repetition is called “everyday”. There are two
characteristics in everyday life: to do small things and to continue with small
things. The journey of faith is like this. Sustaining small things is a journey
of faith. Abraham was created by God on a journey he had never been to. Because
he knew nothing, he had to take my step by step on this journey of faith, which
he had to follow after the Word of God. In our lives, walking with the Lord
does not require great faith. All you need is a little faith to take one step.
Take it one step at a time. How long? Until you reach heaven.
This repeated little routine can have two directions. Holy
and negative everyday. Both of these are gradual. One prayer, one forgiveness,
is nothing more than a self-esteem. But when this happens over and over, we can
live a life like the Lord. Things that are easy to do aren't big enough. So
it's easy not to do it. But when you repeat what you don't do, you enter a big
sin. The book of Judges is the best example of this negative daily routine.
Peace-forgetting-crime-pain-repentance-salvation-peace again! They were people
who tasted God's salvation and peace and continued to commit evil again.
(Judges 10: 6) The words of Judges tell us in this nine stories of repeating
negative routines before God. As a result, it shows so clearly how the kingdom
of God that had been established in Israel was perished.
But Judges also shows God's daily life different from ours.
God's daily life was to continue to provide salvation. He repeats the history
of grace and salvation that may seem empty. This daily life of God's salvation
peaked at the cross of Jesus Christ. I hope that you will live a life of
gratitude and happiness that the daily life of the Lord's grace is placed
before us through Jesus Christ.
The reason why we repeat this negative daily life is because
the word "there is no king." Let's live with the correct answer to
God's question, “Who is the king?” Repeated throughout the Bible. I hope in the
name of the Lord that through the 16 weeks of Judges, the history of their
failures will become our history of success.
